Seeds announced for 2022 Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals draw
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Kosmos Tennis have announced the seeds for the 2022 Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals group stage draw, which will take place at the ITF offices in London on Thursday 31 March at 15:00 local time (14:00 GMT).
Croatia, as runners-up in 2021, are seeded No. 1, with Spain, France and USA also seeded based on the latest Davis Cup Nations Ranking.
The 16 nations competing in the Finals have been placed into four pots. The four seeded nations are in Pot 1, while the remaining 12 nations have been distributed in Pots 2-4 according to the latest Davis Cup Nations Ranking.
One nation from each pot will be drawn into each of the four round-robin groups, with the four host nations placed in different groups. Last week, Bologna (Italy), Glasgow (Great Britain), Hamburg (Germany) and Malaga (Spain) were announced as the host cities for the group stage of the 2022 Davis Cup Finals.
The top two teams in each group will progress to the knock-out stage of the Davis Cup Finals to be held in one, yet-to-be-announced location from 23-27 November. The draw for the knock-out stage will see the four group winners drawn against the four group runners-up in the quarter-finals.
The draws for the 2022 World Group I and World Group II ties will also take place on 31 March. A full list of the competing nations, and seeds for the draws, can be found on the Davis Cup website.
The draws will begin at 15:00 local time (14:00 GMT) and will be streamed live on the Davis Cup YouTube channel.
