The ITF and Kosmos Tennis have announced that the draw for the 2022 Davis Cup by Rakuten Qualifiers will be held in Malaga on Sunday 27 November 2022 at 11:45 CET, ahead of the final of this year’s competition at 13:00 CET.

The draws will be attended by David Ferrer (a Davis Cup champion in 2008, 2009 and 2011 who is now Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals tournament director) and Mark Woodforde (1999 Davis Cup champion and now chair of the ITF’s Davis Cup committee) and will be livestreamed on DavisCup.com and the competition’s social media channels.

Twenty-six nations are eligible for the 2022 Qualifiers:

  • 14 nations that finished in 3rd-16th place at 2022 Davis Cup Finals (September/November)
  • 12 winning nations from 2022 World Group I ties (September)

Two of the 26 nations will be awarded wild cards for the Finals, leaving 24 teams to contest 12 home-and-away Qualifiers ties. The wild cards will be announced prior to the draw on Sunday.

The 12 Qualifier ties will be played on a home-and-away basis on either Friday 3 – Saturday 4 February, or Saturday 4 – Sunday 5 February. Each tie consists of two singles matches on day one, and a doubles match followed by two singles matches on day two.

Seeds for the draw will be based on the interim Davis Cup rankings – which include results from the 2022 Finals. The 2022 year-end rankings will be published in the week commencing Monday 6 December.

The winning nations from the 2023 Qualifiers will advance to the 2023 Finals, where they will join the 2022 champions and runners-up and two wild cards in a 16-nation line-up. The Davis Cup Finals Group Stage will take place in the week commencing 11 September 2023.
