Italy’s Pioneering Role in the Field of PV Technology within the EU
Italy has been a pioneer in the field of PV technology. Within the European Union, the country is ranked third in terms of cumulative solar PV installed capacity, behind Germany and Spain. In its National Energy and Climate Plan, Italy has set a target to achieve a 30% share of renewables in gross energy consumption by 2030. To meet this target, the share of renewables in the electricity sector needs to increase to 55% by 2030. The electricity demand is expected to rise to 339.5 TWh by 2030 and almost 40% of the renewable production will come from solar energy.
Bonn, February 23, 2023 – The renewable energy sector in Italy is currently guided mainly by the National Energy Strategy (NES) 2017 and National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) 2020. The objective of the NES is to make the national energy system more competitive, more sustainable, and more secure. NES had established the following core targets:
Narrowing the energy price gap
Phasing out the use of coal in electricity generation by 2025
Reducing final energy consumption by a total of 10 Mtoe by 2030
Furthering sustainable public transportation and eco-friendly fuels
Reaching a 28% share of renewables in total energy consumption and a 55% share of renewables in electricity consumption by 2030
In this dynamic enviroment, trade fairs like K.EY are gaining in importance in driving the energy transition forward. With more than 9,000 expected visitors, K.EY will open its doors from March 22-24, 2023 at the Rimini Expo Centre.
More than just a business platform – K.EY is a comprehensive showcase for the technology, integrated solutions and services that can guide the energy transition towards a carbon-neutral economy. Moreover, it stands for a cultural, scientific and technical hub and community catalyst able to connect stakeholders, key players and leaders in the renewable energy sector, giving them excellent networking opportunities.
Due to the outstanding success of previous events, EUPD Research is delighted to partner up with K.EY 2023 and will organise the following conferences:
