Olympic Esports Series 2023 finalists in Tennis announced and competition format confirmed

 

The ITF and IOC have today announced the finalists for Tennis in the Olympic Esports Series 2023. The Final for Tennis will be held on Saturday 24 June at the Olympic Esports Week in Singapore. The finalists will compete in the Tennis Clash mobile game to be crowned as the first-ever winner of the event.

The six-player field is made up of the five best performers from the Qualifiers, which were held in Tennis Clash on 4-10 May. They are joined by one wild card player from Singapore, hosts of the inaugural in-person live finals. Play will begin at 17:30 local time (09:30 GMT).

 

The six tennis finalists are:

  • William Foster, Ƒѳᵶᵶƴ, from Great Britain
  • Shenghao He, Kafe, from People’s Republic of China
  • Brian Netter, BRUINˣᴹᴱᴺ , from United States of America
  • Shengquan Lyu, ‘Fly失忆’ from People’s Republic of China
  • Anass Benghazi, Anteo, from France
  • Andrew Arriola, DéjàVu٠мт, from Singapore

 

Players will be drawn into two groups of three players for round one of the final, with the top two players in each group advancing to the semi-finals.

 

The winner of Group A will play the runner-up of Group B and vice versa, in best-of-three match ties in the semi-finals, with the winners advancing to the final and the losers competing in a third-place tie. The third-place tie will also be best-of-three matches, while the final will be best-of-five matches.

 

 

The Olympic Esports Series 2023 Finals will be streamed online and can be watched here, and tickets are available to purchase here.

 

The ITF is among a number of International Federations and games publishers to have collaborated with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the Olympic Esports Series 2023. The Olympic Esports Series is a global virtual and simulated sports competition created by the IOC.

 

Tennis Clash players will compete on a new Olympic Esports Series 2023 court, which has been specially designed for the event.

 

Tennis Clash is developed by Wildlife Studios, with whom the ITF has worked in partnership since 2021 when it first brought the Billie Jean King Cup, the women’s World Cup of Tennis, to mobile devices.
