SPAIN AND USA BOOK PLACES AT FINAL 8 KNOCKOUT STAGE IN MALAGA
Carlos Alcaraz clinched victory for Spain against France on Friday evening, confirming his nation’s place at the Final 8 Knockout Stage in November – and taking Australia through to the quarterfinals with them. Earlier, USA had achieved the same feat in Zhuhai, with their victory over Slovakia also seeing Germany through. But there is still all to play for in Groups A and D, after Italy battled past Belgium in Bologna and Argentina beat Great Britain in Manchester.
Today Belgium will take on Brazil in a Group A tie in Bologna, while France and Czechia, two teams with a rich Davis Cup heritage face each other in Valencia. Today’s Group C match pits USA and Germany against each other in an all-important tie to decide the group winner, and Argentina and Finland go head-to-head in Manchester where Finland has an opportunity to cement their place in the Final 8 in Malaga.
