LA PRIMA DIGITAL FELLOWSHIP DI POMPEII COMMITMENT. MATERIE ARCHEOLOGICHE, A CURA DI MARCELLA BECCARIA
Pompeii Commitment. Materie archeologiche – il primo programma d’arte contemporanea a lungo termine istituito dal Parco Archeologico di Pompei – ha recentemente lanciato un nuovo programma annuale di Digital Fellowship, che promuove la ricerca artistica e curatoriale all’interno del contesto unico, trans-temporale, multi-specie e stratificato di Pompei.
Anri Sala è l’artista che inaugura il programma di Digital Fellowship con Body Double, una nuova opera sonora ideata mettendo in relazione reperti trovati a Pompei in anni recenti con altri riferibili a scavi effettuati nei secoli passati. Accompagnata da due nuovi disegni appositamente realizzati dall’artista, l’opera è un’elegia dedicata agli antichi abitanti di Pompei, luogo che continua a tornare dal passato al presente, proiettandosi verso il futuro e rendendo lo spazio e il tempo entità porose, ripiegate su se stesse. In previsione della presentazione di Body Double anche nella forma di un LP in vinile, prodotto con il gentile supporto di Gianfranco D’Amato, questa Digital Fellowship si articola in due parti – Side A e Side A Too – da oggi online su pompeiicommitment.org.
Il lancio di Side A Too, originariamente previsto per giovedì 6 ottobre 2022, è stato eccezionalmente spostato a sabato 8 ottobre 2022 in occasione della 18° Giornata del Contemporaneo AMACI.

Pompeii Commitment. Archaeological Matters – the first long-term, contemporary art programme, established by the Archaeological Park of Pompeii – has recently launched a new yearly programme of Digital Fellowships, facilitating artistic and curatorial research within Pompeii’s uniquely trans-temporal, multi-species, and deeply entangled context.
Anri Sala inaugurates the Digital Fellowship programme with Body Double, a new sound work bringing together recent findings from Pompeii with others from excavations carried out in past centuries. Complemented by two new drawings made by the artist, Body Double is an elegy dedicated to the ancient inhabitants of Pompeii, a place that keeps coming back from the past to the present, projecting itself towards the future and turning space and time into porous entities folded onto themselves. Body Double is curated by Marcella Beccaria.
In anticipation of the presentation of Body Double also in the form of a vinyl LP record, kindly supported by Gianfranco D’Amato, this Digital Fellowship is divided into two parts – Side A and Side A Too – now online on pompeiicommitment.org.
The launch of Side A Too, originally planned for October 6th, has been exceptionally moved to October 8th on the occasion of 18° Giornata del Contemporaneo AMACI.
